Oil Price ManipulationIf it looks like a duck, swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it's a duck. 

With this respite in the seemingly inexorable climb in crude oil prices, let's pause to give yet another opinion.  The question that continues to confound and cause arguments between the so-called analysts deals with source of the price run-up in oil.  Many theories abound including the weakening dollar, global demand and big oil companies propping up the price.  One idea that has been floated is plain and simple manipulation by speculators.

In some ways writing these articles evokes the story of Chicken Little.  The fable has many interpretations depending on whether you are a "happy ending" person or not.  The politically themed moral of the story warns of those who jump to conclusions and then provoke the populace into seemingly mass hysteria.  The Clinton campaign has managed to convince many that having Obama as the Democratic nominee that a loss in November is all but assured.

Depending on the type of person you are, skipping to the end of a book is quite normal.  Some studies have suggested, however, that skipping to the end of a book may correlate with "impulse control".  For example, if you offer a child one marshmallow now or two marshmallows if they are willing to wait a short while.  According to research, the child that waits for the two marshmallows will demonstrate greater self-discipline and persistence later in life.

Certainly you have heard the phrase, "There's a sucker born every minute."  Most people mistakenly attribute the quote to P.T. Barnum, however P.T. never really made the exact statement.  The renown showman was a successful marketer and was deeply tuned-in to his customer base and would not refer to them as suckers.   Regardless of who coined the phrase, it seems to be synonymous with many folks hawking goods on the internet these days.
